MANSA Gold Primer

Acrylic Solvent Based Primer Cum Sealer

PENETRATING HIGH PERFORMANCE PRIMER CUM SEALER/DAMP PROOF COATING FOR INTERNAL, EXTERNAL AND CELLAR.

Primer is a term that describes a range of products that are used as the first coat when coating new masonry or when recoating old masonry surfaces. Primers fulfill two main functions. Primers bind friable, chalky surfaces before painting. They are often called surface conditioner or stabilizer. Those primers that seal masonry support and provide a surface of uniform porosity are called alkali-resistant primers or sealers. They provide a sound base for subsequent coats of masonry pain, with the primer functioning as a sealer and adhesion prompter by blocking alkali and the salts that cause efflorescence.

In a waterborne primer based on traditional latex that has a polymer particle size in the region of 150nm, the polymer particles are relatively large. It is now established that particle size needs to be less than 50nm to have acceptable penetration of waterborne systems. The benefit of using a solvent borne primer is its ability to consolidate a porous substrate, and give an excellent level of adhesion, irrespective of whether the topcoat is waterborne or solvent borne.

Solvent borne performs better than waterborne, being less permeable especially on bad mortar. The standard water borne has limited penetration because of its higher particle size.

From the above, it is quite clear that solvent borne masonry primers possess undisputed superiority of performance, particularly for difficult surfaces that are found in renovation and restoration work. The currently available waterborne technology has to overcome major weakness of traditional waterborne dispersions for primers, namely their ability to penetrate porous substrates.

Offer the best balance between application comfort and performance. They are one pack systems developed to adhere directly to damp or wet masonry. The dry paint blocks rising damp and is ideally suited for solving humidity problems in basements and cellars.

Waterproofing primer cum sealer formulations has the following characteristics:

  • Outstanding long lasting adhesion on damp alkaline or porous substrates.
  • Excellent resistance to efflorescence.
  • High sag limits for easy application whatever the application technique.
  • Good detergent and chemical resistance.
  • Non-yellowing.
  • Good storage ability.
  • Low odour for application in closed interior spaces.

Architects, engineers and contractors specify and insist on the unmatched Performance in waterproofing primer sealers for sealers for superior results in protection for concrete, stone, brick, plaster and most surfaces exposed to weathering. It’s the protection: the right coating saves time and money!
